WOMAN FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY
For Paula Wolfe, in celebration of
her 37 years at Lincoln-Sudbury
Amidst all the sound and
fury, the Sturm and Drang,
the extremes of polar ice
and Saharan heat, L-S
had its own placid Mid-West called
Paula Wolfe, Minnesota's
gift to a school whose hidden
curriculum was always spelled
"I-n-t-e-n-s-i-t-y." To us,
she brought the patience that a fine jeweler
requires, this artist who took the time to look
for beauty in small things, not to mention
the memories of one who once walked
on level ground and
knew frozen winters. I can still hear
a laugh like Minnihaha
Falls, one that murmured to
me, "All will be well-- well,
most probably."
