Do not set the table.
Rather, unset the table.
The dishes must be put away.
The time for eating is past.
Shrink your world down to a chair,
then shrink it to a bed, finally
to a place within the bed.
Ask for one last kiss.
Sleep will come.
Let it hold you close,
until the dreams arrive to
cover you.
Enfold yourself.
Then pass.
